Professionally she worked for several years on NASA projects, and currently lives near Baltimore in the United States. Her book on the work of Greg Egan came out from University of Illinois Press in 2014. Her writing appears in venues such as Locus, NYRSF, , and Cascadia Subduction Zone. Karen Burnham, vocationally an electromagnetics engineer and avocationally a science fiction critic and book reviewer. First published in 1973, it went on to win the Nebula, Hugo, Locus and BSFA awards, among others, and is an acknowledged classic of the genre. Clarke’s Rendezvous With Rama, the story of an exploratory mission to an alien spacecraft (named “Rama” by human astronomers).
